Using Navigator for i to review performance:
 - Open IBM i Nav as follows:
   - Non-TLS: http://Your System IP:2002/Navigator/login
   - TLS:  http://Your System IP:2003/Navigator/login
      - Select the partition to investigate (Some shops have multiple partitions
        configured in Nav.)
      - Scroll to Performance on the left side of the display.

Open Performance and this will be displayed:

Click on "Investigate Data".
An extensive list of performance metrics will be displayed. You will see a list
that looks like this. If you have Collection Services running, any of the links can be
clicked on.

Using the first service in the partial list shown above "CPU Utilization and Waits Overview", this is what will be shown:

At this point, you can start to click around and see how it works or you can
instructions.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: If your shop has the IBM i QMGTOOLKIT installed, bring it up by running:
Command Line: Addlible qmgtools
Command Line: Go MG

From the main MG Toolkit page:
Opt 3 - Performance/Misc collection

There is an entire MG TOOLS section on the IBM i "Helpful Tips by Category" page here including how to get it if your shop doesn't have it. No cost.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another method of looking up a performance bottleneck is this - again, if your
shop has collection services running:

Note: This is from a V7R4 test partition. Shouldn't be too much different on V7R5, V7R6.

From a command line: Go Perform.
This will be displayed:

Select Option 7 - Display Performance Data
A screen similar to this will be presented:

Select the day needed to review performance metrics using Option 1.
A screen similar to this will be presented:

Select the time interval that requires investigation using Option 1.
A screen similar to this will be presented.

There is plenty of data to look at on this display.
Use F6 to list out the jobs that were running in this time interval.
A screen similar to this will be displayed:

From here, use the "F" keys to sort by job type, job, CPU, Disk I/O, etc.
Job detail, wait detail can be looked into.

Note that the other options on the Go Perform main menu also contain
interesting data to review.
