Moving to 5770BR2 on a New Power System from 5770BR1.

Scenario:                                                                                                                                                                                    The old Power systems are in V7R4 / V7R5 with 5770BR1. The new Power System will be with V7R6. Note: Power Systems delivered with V7R6 include BRMS 5770BR2.

 

The challenge: How to move from V7R4 or V7R5 5770BR1 to a V7R6 5770BR2?

Per FORTRA, the current developer of BRMS + supplying PTF's for BRMS, the summarized steps are:  

These steps ensures you are starting fresh with the restore of QUSRBRM.                                                                                   1) Apply PTF SJ01877 in the V7R4 partitions or SJ01879 in the V7R5 partitions.
 2) Save the QUSRBRM library from the V7R4 or V7R5 partition.
 3) Delete the 5770BR2 licpgm in the V7R6 partition.
 4) Delete the QUSRBRM library from the V7R6 partition as it is not deleted as part of the  deletion of the licensed program).     5) Restore the QUSRBRM saved in V7R4 or V7R5.
 6) Finally, restore the 5770BR2 licpgm for the V7R6 partition to upgrade the objects restored from QUSRBRM

By following these steps, because QUSRBRM from BR1 would be in place before the install of 5770BR2 it will be very similar to the in-place upgrade scenario where the 5770BR2 installation will perform any upgrade of the data.
