IBM i SQL's for Storage and System Mgmt

Oct 16, 2026

Good day everyone.

As most of the IBM i professionals know, there is an IBM i Guided Tours Site
dedicated to various IBM i Topics. The Guided Tour webinars are free and can be found on the IBM i Reference Pages Blog "IBM i Extras" page here.
Page down a bit to locate the Guided Tour links shown below.

You can sign up for the webinars that are of interest to you. Note that you will
have to register for a free COMMON account to access the replay webinars and
PDF slide decks.

I posted about the Guided Tours in July 2025 but wanted to mention it again. I was recently looking for something to help me on the job. I ran into a Guided Tour webinar from March 2026 presented by IBMer's:
@Ryan Moeller - Advisory Software Engineer
@Ann Wilkerson - Software Developer

The Guided Tour they presented was IBM i SQL for Storage and System Mgmt.
Click the highlighted link above to access this webinar. Included with this webinar was a 60 page PDF of helpful, ready to use SQL's to help you manage your system(s).

I've included this link which will open the PDF slide deck.
Note: It is on google drive but you should be able to open the link.

The first page of the PDF slide deck looks like this:

This is IBM i SQL material that should not be missed.

The webinar is described as follows:
"Discover practical and powerful ways to manage IBM i environments in this Guided Tour, SQL for System and Storage Management, presented by industry experts Ann Wilkerson and Ryan Moeller. In this session, they walk you through real-world SQL techniques that simplify monitoring, enhance visibility into system performance, and streamline storage management. Whether you're strengthening your SQL skills or looking for smarter, more efficient approaches to system administration, this guided tour offers clear, actionable insights you can begin using immediately in your IBM i operations."

Enjoy, MM

IBM i CVE SQL - V7R5 TR8, V7R6 TR2 Minimum to Run

Oct 14, 2026

Good day everyone.

This IBM i CVE SQL was posted to LinkedIn by Leonardo Villalobos Prieto, IBM i Security Subject Matter Expert out of Santiago, Chile. Leonardo works for Grupo Clip.

I think you'll find it most helpful when researching IBM i CVE's (Common Vulnerability Exposures) on your IBM i. Your system very well could be required to be protected from the CVE's you'll find.

This is reposted with his permission. Copy / paste into ACS Run SQL Scripts or
on the 5250 STRSQL screen.

The results will look something like this - Remember, V7R5, TR8 or V7R6 TR2 minimum OS / TR level needed to run. The SQL returns data about vulnerabilities for HTTP.
